The
first ever painting on this site was Death in the Sickroom,
one of five works we chose by Edvard Munch, artist of the month
for November 2001.
|
December
brought five paintings by Gustave Caillebotte. Never
as well-known as his friends Monet, Renoir etc, Caillebotte was nonetheless
a fine artist whose work deserves wider viewing.
|
January
and February were dedicated to Botticelli, one the great masters
of the Florentine Renaissance. Even today, Botticelli's
paintings have a special beauty about them, and psychological depths
that are not apparent at first sight.
