| THE
BASH STREET KIDS |
| Originally
called When The Bell Rings, Leo Baxendale's 1954 creation got
its snappier new name in 1956. When Leo left The Beano
in 1962, Bash Street was taken over by David Sutherland, who drew
the strip until his semi-retirement in 1998; in that year Nigel
Parkinson was brought in as deputy. Another artist, Tom Paterson,
has kept up the high standard with his Bash Street Summer Specials.
Here we see Plug
taking centre stage. Danny, Sidney, Smiffy, Fatty and
Toots are in the back row, with Wilfird, Spotty, and Erbert in front.
